Julian Assange arrested

The headlines will read,  Julian Assagne was arrested at the Ecuadorian embassy in London. But the real story is,  what was his exit strategy?  He was a wanted man that everyone knew where he was,  if he had no intention of running,  why not just turn yourself in and make a deal.   Instead he is dragged out of the embassy looking like Santa Claus on a bad day,  rambling like a wounded dog about to be put down. Did he think he would stay in the embassy forever?
